LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Wesleyan women's basketball team dropped their opening game in the D3hoops.com Classic to Redlands by a score of 64-31. The Cardinals are now 5-6 on the season while the Bulldogs improve to 7-1.
Despite a stellar defensive showing in the first half from the Cardinals, holding Redlands to 23 points on 9-for-34 shooting from the floor and just a 1-for-12 display on three-point attempts, Wesleyan struggled to get anything going offensively throughout in this one, hitting just three field goals in the first half and nine for the game.
Alli Jones '27 finished with nine points to lead the Cardinals in scoring while the junior forward added three steals and two blocks in 29 minutes.
Abigail Goff '29 scored her first collegiate points while fellow first-years
Delaney Beighley '29 and
Molly Brown '29 both saw the court for the first time as Cardinals.
Wesleyan looks to bounce back on Tuesday with a matchup against Whittier at 5:00 PM (EST) / 2:00 PM (PST).
