Men’s Soccer Falls to No. 5 Babson on the Road

BABSON PARK, MA. – Marking a rematch of Second Round matchup of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, the Wesleyan men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with No. 5 ranked Babson College on Saturday morning, falling 1-0 in a non-conference match on the road from Babson's Hartwell-Rogers Field.

These New England foes last saw each other on Nov. 18, Babson ranked 11th at the time in a match that saw Babson advance further in the tournament with a shutout that ended the Cardinals' season.

While the Cardinals held the offensive edge through the first half with a 4-1 shot advantage, the Beavers opened the scoring just eight and a half minutes after the opening kickoff. Alexander Yablonovskiy knocked the ball over the shoulder of Cardinals goaltender Mathis Blanc '26 after several attempts to clear the box by the Cardinals' defense. Babson kept the ball in the air long enough for Yablonovskiy to head the ball.

Freshman Riley Harvey led the offense with two shots on goal while logging all 90 minutes.

Blanc finished the morning with one save on two shots faced. JB Montague saved five for the Beavers.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at WestConn with kickoff beginning at 7 p.m.
