MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Opening the first day of the Wesleyan Round Robin, the Wesleyan men's squash team outlasted No. 25 Haverford College on Saturday morning in a 5-4 victory from the Rosenbaum Squash Center. Wesleyan advances to 5-5 while Haverford falls to 2-6.
Sitting atop the lineup,
Dhairya Shah '27 and
Arjun Somani '29 cleared 3-0 sweeps at #1 and #2. Shah defeated Aaryaman Jaising in an 11-9, 11-7, 11-2 final while Somani went 11-6, 12-10, 11-6 over Henry Jiang.
Running five rounds with Kai Thomas Schinaman at #3,
Dominic Wilson '29 rallied two games in a row for the 3-2 win. Wilson tied the match up at one, falling once more to Schinaman in game three before finishing with a 0-11, 11-0, 8-11, 12-10, 11-8 finish.
At #6,
Matthyaz Williams '29 ran back three wins in a row to defeat Qianzhi Zhao 3-1. Williams tallied 8-11, 11-1, 11-5, 11-8 final scores.
Finn Goodson '29 picked up at win for the Cardinals at #9, finishing Nevin Mital 3-1 as he clocked 11-6, 11-6, 8-11, 11-7 game wins.
The Cardinals return to action on Sunday, Jan. 18, when they face Denison at 10 a.m.
