MIDDLETOWN, CT. - The Wesleyan women's track and field team fielded an exciting Saturday of top finishes at the Alumni Indoor Invitational as the team was led by
Kaitlyn Connors '29 and
Elanora Smith '27 with a first-place finishes while
Sydni Chandler '29 broke her own school record in front of a home crowd at the Bacon Field House.
RESULTS
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Earning first-pace recognition, Connors highlighted the day in the women's 800m, crossing the finish line at 2:26.70.
- The Cardinals clocked the Top 3 placements in the 600m with Smith topping the competition in first place with a time of 1:41.64. In second place, Mia Vientos '28 finished at 1:42.64. Ellie Green '28 closed in third place with a 1:43.67 final.
- While Chandler placed fifth in the 60m hurdle finals, her preliminary heat time of 9.42 set the new school record as she bested her previous time of 9.46 set earlier this season.
- Second place in the 200m went to Amelia Goettsch '29 as she ran a 27.11. Nadia Lim '26 also placed second in the women's mile, crossing with a time of 5:22.43.
- Throwing for 11.68m, Naomi McGadney '27 placed third in the shot put.
- The 4x400m relay team placed third, collaborating for a time of 4:18.88. The team consisted of Smith, Green, Vientos, and Stella Loezos '27.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Jan. 30, for the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.
