No. 19 Women’s Squash Defeats No. 20 Dickinson, 7-2

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – The Wesleyan women's squash team was victorious on Thursday afternoon as they played host to No. 20 Dickinson College in a 7-2 win from the Rosenbaum Squash Center. Wesleyan advances to 4-3 as Dickinson falls to 0-2.

RESULTS

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Picking up six 3-0 sweeps down the line up, the Cardinals snapped a four-game string of losses. At #3, Aanya Anand '26 defeated Victorio Savelius, 11-4, 11-7, 11-5. Jaclyn Dichter '26 was 11-2, 11-1, 11-6 while facing Lila Brown at #6.  At #7, Leandra Sze '26 went 11-2, 11-3, 11-1 over Grace Miller. Frances Guenther '28 went 11-1, 11-1, 11-1 against Lauren Flowers at #8 while Caroline Caiati '28 was 11-3, 11-0, 11-1 over Morgan Wheeler at #9.
  • Returning to the lineup, Penelope Furnas '27 picked up a match win for the Cardinals at #4, running 11-7, 11-9, 13-11 over Thea Hedge.
  • Running four games against Gabi El-Masry at #5, Katherine Risden '28 fell in game one 8-11 before rallying three games in a row for the 3-1 victory with 11-4, 11-3, 11-3 final tallies.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Jan. 10, when they face No. 23 Hamilton on the road at 1 p.m.
