Hamilton Bests Cardinals in 2-1 Defeat

CLINTON, N.Y. -  Bested for the second game in a row, the No. 6 Wesleyan women's soccer team fell to Hamilton College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon following Taylor Hill's last ditch goal with 20 seconds remaining to dash the hopes of a Hamilton shutout.

The Continentals opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a goal from Haley Cramer to take the one-goal lead. The Cardinals (7-3-0 overall, 3-3-0 NESCAC) continued to generate offensive pressure but entered halftime trailing by one after loading 10 shots on Continentals (7-1-1 overall, 4-1-1 NESCAC) goalkeeper Olivia Connolly.

The Cardinals came out aggressively in the second half, limiting the Continentals to just two shots while tossing another 10. In the 72nd minute Sarah Flood doubled the score to cushion the Continentals' lead.

Taylor Hill '28 broke the impending shutout with just 20 seconds remaining on the clock, scoring her fourth goal of the season. Hill's shot was a rebound initially stopped by Connolly. The Cardinals finished with a 20-12 advantage in shots, while goalkeeper Marley Hansard '29 made four saves.

Action returns Saturday, Oct. 10, when the Cardinals host Colby at 11 a.m.
