BRUNSWICK, ME. -  Competing for the 2026 ITA New England Regional singles final, Wesleyan women's tennis sophomore Mariia Kornilova was named the regional runner-up following a match loss to Amherst's Tina She on Sunday afternoon and earns a bid to the ITA Cup in Georgia.

Kornilova's quarterfinal success on Saturday afternoon propelled her to the regional semifinal where she was set to face MIT's Katie Driscoll. Kornilova was victorious, running a 6-3, 6-2 final tally heading into the final match of the weekend as the Cardinals' representative.

Facing Amherst star Tina She, Kornilova fought through a knockout three-set tiebreak before ultimately falling to She as the runner-up. Kornilova won set one 6-2 but it was She that rallied to a 6-2, 3-6, 6-7 (4) final to claim the regional title.

Kornilova earns an automatic bid to the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia on Oct. 15, where she will compete for a national ITA title.
