MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Wesleyan University baseball team was bested in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon in a 7-0 shutout at the hands of Ursinus College as Spring Break play wraps en route to Baltimore.
The Cardinals registered five hits through nine innings, putting away two in the bottom of the first inning. The Bears climbed to a two-run lead to open the game before
Tucker DeWolf '28 led off for the Cardinals. DeWolf singled to center field but would not advance until
James Marsden '26 put a ball in right field to place him on third. Both were left on base.
Returning two more runs in the third, the Bears took a 4-0 lead over the Cardinals before jumping to six runs in the following inning. Finding a seventh run in the seventh, the Bears held the lead through to the end of the game.
From the mound,
Oliver Wyner '27 takes the loss, pitching two innings as he dropped four earned runs and four hits with one strikeout.
Dariusz Lukowski '27 pitched five innings, striking out four batters with three allowed runs and six hits. Dan Bass earned the win for the Bears, pitching eight innings without a run.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, March 20, when they face Johns Hopkins on the road at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
