Cardinals Subdued in 11-1 Loss to No. 2 Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE, MD. – Led by Tucker DeWolf '28 with a third inning run, the Wesleyan University baseball team fell in non-conference action to No. 2 Johns Hopkins University on Saturday afternoon in an 11-1 road loss, cementing Johns Hopkins' sweep of the series.

Sitting at a one-run deficit at the top of the third inning, DeWolf plated the opening run for the Cardinals to tie up the game. DeWolf hit first on a fielder's choice, advancing to third with William Moore '26 nailing a double down the left line and put away the run on James Marsden's '26 appearance at the plate.

The Blue Jays plated three runs in the fourth, fixing two on home run by William Jaun. With two more runs scored in the fifth, the Blue Jays ran back five more in the seventh to finish out the game.

Pitching five innings, Shamus Kelly '28 struck out six batters and walked four while allowing six total runs. Cole Jefferson earns the win for the Blue Jays, pitching just over two innings without a run as he struck out two.

The Cardinals return home from Spring Break play to host Hartford on Wednesday, March 25, at 4 p.m. at Dresser Diamond.
