HARTFORD, CT. - Marking a stellar team finish on Saturday evening, the Wesleyan women's track and field team garnered a first-place finish at the Trinity Invitational, hosted by Trinity College, as the team beat out 12 other institutions in the pool of 13 with four first-place victories.
RESULTS
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Placing first in the 800m, Elanora Smith '27 rallied the Cardinals with a 2:16.63 finish and was followed by Ellie Green in fourth place with a 2:18.77 final time.
- Virginia Lessner '28 won the 1500m, running a final 4:46.83.Kaitlyn Connors '29placed second with a 4:47.45 and Genevieve Minard '28 placed fourth with a 4:51.58.
- The 5000m went to Alexandra Weingard '28 as she crossed the finish line at 18:17.94. Placing third was Grace Baum '29 with a 18.56.59 and Sofia Magnera '28 finished fourth with a final 19:11.44.
- Naomi McGadney '27 was the top finish in the women's javelin throw, placing first as she reached a final distance of 37.17m. McGadney also placed fourth in the shot put, throwing for 11.24m.
- Juliette Sullivan '27cleared top finishes in the sprint events, placing second in the 200m with a 25.14 and fifth place in the 100m at 12.65.
- In the triple jump, Katherine Goss '29reached 10.78m, placing fifth.
The Cardinals will take a week to prepare for the 2026 NESCAC Championships beginning Saturday, April 25 at Williams.
