CLINTON, N.Y. – Making the most of the regular season finale, the Wesleyan men's tennis team defeated Hamilton College, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon to secure the #6 seed in the NESCAC with a 5-5 conference record.
The Cardinals advance to 7-9 on the season while the afternoon matchup was led by freshman
Chase Burke.
Burke opened the match with doubles partner
Harry Collomb '26, defeating Villem Aadamsoo and Lleyton Mendieto 6-4 as the No. 1 pair. At No. 3,
Brett Keeling '27 and
Max Litton '26 climbed to a 6-2 win over Anson Anderson and Antonio Chavez, securing the first point of the match with the doubles clinch.
Following his performance in singles play, Burke played out the largest scoring margin of the day with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Alexei Katelevsky. Collomb earned his own win at No. 1 through Mendieta's retirement.
At No. 2,
Ryuto Saito '29 defeated Aadamsoo 6-0, 7-5 while anchoring the lineup at No. 2. At No. 3, Keeling faced Anderson in a 6-3, 6-1 finish for the Cardinals following his doubles victory.
Tai MacDonald '26 ran to a tiebreak in set one, returning a 7-6 (9-7) finish before rolling to a 6-4 win in set two at No. 5. Slotted at No. 6,
Tommy Jani '29 put away a 6-2, 6-3 final tally over Alejandro Fernandez.
The Cardinals will face No. 3 Middlebury in the NESCAC Championship on Friday, May 1, at home as they host championship weekend.
