Men’s Tennis Collapses Trinity in a 7-0 NESCAC Sweep

HARTFORD, CT. – A mid-week NESCAC matchup for the Wesleyan men's tennis team toppled Trinity College in a complete 7-0 sweep down the lineup in a much-needed conference win for Wesleyan from the road.

The Cardinals collapsed all doubles efforts made by the Bantoms with a clinching point with wins in all three matches. At No. 1, Ryuto Saito '29 and Chase Kasday '26 defeated Brandon Fletcher and John Pope 6-3. Brett Keeling '27 and Max Litton '26 ran a 7-6 win over Luca Garabati and Maxim Golubenko as the No. 2 pairing. Victorious at No. 3, Chase Burke '29 and Tommy Jani '29 finished 7-6 over Rico Buoro and Thompson Brown.

Saito, anchoring the lineup at No. 1, met Garabati in a 6-2, 6-4 victory for the Cardinals with Keeling following at No. 2, completing a 6-1, 7-5 win over Pope. Positioned as the No. 3, Burke ran 6-4, 7-6 final over Maxim Kauffman.

Forced to a tiebreak at No. 4, Tai MacDonald '26 was taken to the wire by Golobenko. MacDonald fished a set one win before Golobenko tied the match at one, but it was MacDonald that prevailed through the break with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 win. Facing Andrew Nelson at No. 5, Jani finished 7-5, 6-3 as Litton, sitting at No. 6, completed a complete sweep of a 6-0, 6-0 match win.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, April 11, when they face Colby on the road at 2 p.m.
