MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's crew team are set to make an appearance in the 187
th Henley Royal Regatta. The Cardinals open on Wednesday, July 1 in the Temple Challenge Cup, an elite event dedicated to student eights from around the world.
The Henley Royal Regatta is the most prestigious rowing event in the world, originating in 1839 as a one-day public fair, has grown into a five-day event that showcases premier international competition including Olympians and junior rowers. Racing takes place from Tuesday, June 30 through Sunday, July 5, in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England on the River Thames.
Wesleyan has spent the better part of a month on campus, training for the overseas trip. The Cardinals traveled to England on June 21 and have spent the past week training for the competition which opens on Wednesday against a crew from the Netherlands.
