Box Score SPRINGFIELD, MA. - A strong performance at Suprenant Field on Tuesday night put the Wesleyan men's soccer team over Western New England in a 4-0 shutout led by Yousuf Saeed '27and Julian Cauvin '29 as Wesleyan put away three goals in the opening half before Saeed's tally early in the second.

The Cardinals needed no more than a minute to strike first, taking the led at just 41 seconds off the foot of Niall Fergus '27. Saeed barreled down the middle, catching Fergus inside the box for the quick push to the game lead.

Held for nearly 20 more minutes, the Cardinals struck with a second goal thanks to Ford Cash '29 following through on a near save by Bears' goalkeeper Anthony Shea. Aiden Londergan's '27 efforts down the right side made the pass inside possible with Cash at the left post. Shea dove for the ball but Cash finished at the opposite post and into the corner. Just four minutes later Cauvin nailed a deep shot from outside the box that began with a throw in from Cash and an assist by Riley Harvey '29.

Saeed's second half goal from the right corner closed the game scoring with 40 minutes remaining, cushioning the Cardinals' victory.

Sam Adiutori '28 made one save through 79 minutes before he was relieved by Alex Hayward '29. Hayward faced a penalty kick that went wide while the Cardinals defense allowed just one shot on goal total, outshooting the Bears 20-8.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Sept. 26, when they host Bates at home beginning at 2 p.m.
