SPRINGFIELD, MA. — The No. 7 Wesleyan University women's soccer team earned its second straight victory on Tuesday evening, defeating Springfield College, 3-1, at the Irv Schmid Sports Complex while overwhelming Springfield by a 27-7 shot margin.
The Cardinals (6-1-0 overall) controlled play from the opening whistle and opened the scoring in the 15th minute when
Kerenza Leahey '27 found the back of the net thanks to an assist from
Maria Utz.
The Pride (1-5-0 overall) pulled even early following the half, but the Cardinals quickly regained the lead.
Sheridan Snow '28 scored in the 63rd minute, with
Rachel Katz providing the assist. Utz then added her own goal in the 72nd minute to give the Cardinals a 3-1 advantage.
Goalkeeper
Maggie di Rienzo '29 made one save in the victory as the defense allowed just two shots on goal.
The Cardinals returns to action Saturday, Sept. 26, hosting Bates College at Jackson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
