Rick McCarthy is a lacrosse coaching veteran with over five decades of experience. He's achieved success at secondary, collegiate, and club levels, even serving as President of the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. Rick has also played key roles in various lacrosse organizations, including the Intercollegiate All-American Committee and the North South Intercollegiate All Star Selection Committee. He's coached post-collegiate age teams in Australia. In addition, Rick has been recognized as the New England Division 3 Coach of the year, the NCAA Division 3 in 1979. Rick’s overall record as a head coach is 234-70. Rick has served as an assistant coach at Wesleyan for 20 seasons. 

Rick's teams have competed in various championships, and Eastern Connecticut State University named their lacrosse facility "Rick McCarthy Field" in his honor. He has also made significant contributions to Wesleyan University's lacrosse program, culminating in winning the NCAA Division 3 National Championship in 2018. 

Rick graduated from Yale in 1968 where he lettered in both lacrosse and hockey.  He is an active supporter of education and academic initiatives for needy children. Rick is married to Mary Ellen for for over thirty years, and is a proud parent and grandparent.
