Emme Pike enters her first season as assistant coach of the Wesleyan men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs for the 2023-24 season.
A 2023 graduate of Bates College, Pike was a four-year member of the women’s swimming and diving team and served as a senior captain in 2022-23. A three-time NESCAC Winter All-Academic selection, Pike played an integral role in the creation and advancement of the Bobcats’ diversity and equity program. Pike co-founded Bates’ first athletic diversity counsel, encouraging greater diversity amongst athletes and the athletics staff.
Pike also took part in the creation of Bates’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s (SAAC) constitution where she helped establish guidelines and policies for the committee’s proceedings. While serving as an intern in the athletic department, Pike created written and social media content on behalf of the Bobcats’ DEI initiatives to generate more awareness amongst the student body. After organizing several virtual conferences to discuss DEI topics such as identity in sport, Pike moderated a Title IX panel with current and former Bates College female athletes.
A double major in Spanish and Rhetoric, Pike served as a teacher’s assistant where she advised students on the writing process and advised professors on the students’ comprehension of material. In addition to being a teacher’s assistant, Pike delivered guest lectures on the writing process and worked as a Spanish language tutor.
