Annie Rush Headshot 2021-22

Annie Rush

Annie Rush joins the Wesleyan women’s hockey program as an assistant coach for the 2021-22 season. The Alaska native is no stranger to the NESCAC, having been a two-sport athlete at Williams and serving as an assistant coach for the Hamilton men’s and women’s crew teams in the spring of 2021.

Rush comes to Middletown after most-recently spending two years an assistant ice hockey coach at UMass Boston (2019-21). In her time at UMass Boston, Rush participated in every aspect of the program including practice and game preparations, recruiting, and special teams. She also contributed to program philosophy and focused on player development through on-ice skill sessions and film analysis.

Following her time at UMass Boston, Rush was hired as an assistant with the men’s and women’s crew teams at Hamilton, where she helped lead the Continentals to unprecedented success in the spring of 2021. She coached the novice rowers in their first season on the water and worked with the second and third varsity eights. This spring, Hamilton placed second at nationals, posting the best finish in program history and earning CRCA Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

In her time as an undergrad at Williams, Rush played in 95 career games and compiled 58 points (23 goals, 35 assists) while helping lead the Ephs to the 2019 NESCAC Championship and an NCAA Quarterfinal appearance in her senior season. As a rower she contributed to a NESCAC championship in 2016, a 2nd place finish at the Head of the Charles in 2018 and multiple appearances at NCAA's. Rush was a four-year member of both the ice hockey and rowing teams for Williams.

Rush calls Anchorage, Alaska her hometown as she attended West Anchorage High School, graduating in 2015 as a National Honor Society student.
