Hedi Droste HS 2022-23

Hedi Droste '19

Hedi Droste ’19 returns to Wesleyan as she is set to enter her second season as an assistant coach on the women’s ice hockey team in 2023-24.

Droste began her collegiate career at Hobart and William Smith College before transferring to Wesleyan after her sophomore year. She was a member of the inaugural women’s ice hockey team at William Smith and was one of the first class of captains. At Wesleyan, Droste was voted team captain for her senior season in 2018-19, after just one year as a member of the program.

Since graduating in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree as a double major in feminist, gender, and sexuality studies as well as environmental studies, Droste has continued her love for hockey as both a coach and stats tracker. During the 2019-20 season, Droste served as a volunteer assistant coach at Norwich University. Her role with the Cadets included collaborating on practice plans, facilitating drills and small games during practice, and using live game data and stats to assist with mid-game adjustments.

Her most-recent role in the sport of hockey came in the winter of 2022 where she served as a stats and data tracker for the Boston Pride, a professional women’s ice hockey team in the Premier Hockey Federation. With the Pride, Hedi tracked game day statistics and data while she observed game day management under the director of game day operations.

Outside of sports, Droste works with Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, New Hampshire as a member of the Development Office. In the fall of 2020, she led an annual auction fundraising team, implementing and managing an online software and virtual auction due to the pandemic. She continues to assist Cardigan in a variety of capacities, including event planning and data management.
