Jeff Place joined the Wesleyan staff as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Operations in February 2023.
Place arrives in Middletown after having most-recently served as a graduate associate within athletics for Springfield College in Massachusetts. At Springfield, Place assisted in coordinating contest management at home events while making necessary arrangements for visiting teams and officials. He also oversaw the marketing efforts to promote games throughout the season and was the 2022 Regional Tournament Coordinator for opening round action of the NCAA Div. III men’s volleyball postseason held at Springfield.
Prior to his work at Springfield, Place worked specifically in football operations, first for his alma mater the University of Maryland from 2014 through 2018, before he worked in a similar role at Yale University from 2019 into 2021.
While an undergraduate at Maryland, he served the role of football operations and recruiting intern for the football team all throughout his four years. In this role, he assisted the coaching staff in planning and executing of team schedules, training camp activities, recruiting visits, game day, and donor events. He also served as a sports marketing operations intern for the athletic department at Maryland during his senior year in 2017-18.
At Yale, Place served in the role of assistant director of football operations and recruiting for the football program for two seasons (2019-21). He co-facilities all team and staff operations including travel, lodging, game day setup, event management (for athletes, alumni, and supporters), recruiting evaluations and visits, and summer camps for thousands of local area high school athletes each year. In addition, he co-managed tasks for recruit information, player evaluation (film, transcripts, visits), and assisted with team operations (travel, lodging, and food).
Place graduated from Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in communication in 2018. He is enrolled in graduate school at Springfield where he expects to earn his master’s in athletic leadership in the summer of 2023.
