Ken Dompier

Ken Dompier is set to enter his 35th season at Wesleyan University. He served as an assistant athletic trainer for almost 30 years before being promoted to associate athletic trainer in 2021.

Dompier provides athletic injury care for Wesleyan's 30 Division III varsity programs and is the head football and men's lacrosse athletic trainer which includes all team travel and practice coverage. Also, Ken serves as the primary athletic trainer for the women's basketball and men's & women's swimming & diving teams. 

Among his responsibilities at Wesleyan includes maintaining appropriate medical documentation records including injury evaluation, treatment, preventive, and rehabilitation programs. He assists the head athletic trainer with various administrative duties such as policy and procedure development, staff scheduling, ordering of supplies, and inventory. Dompier has developed and updated a referral system with outside orthopedic specialists to increase appointment times and improve medical communication. He takes a role in supervising and mentoring assistant athletic trainers as well as interns, part-time members, and student workers.

Prior to Wesleyan, Dompier was the head athletic trainer for Portsmouth High School in New Hampshire from 1988-92. At Portsmouth, he developed the first athletic training program at the public high school. He was solely responsible for all matters concerning the care, prevention, and rehabilitation for 46 high school and junior high school athletic teams.

Dompier was a student trainer at both of his alma maters, as he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for Western Michigan University in 1987-88 and a student athletic trainer for Castleton State College from 1983-87.

Ken is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and Connecticut Athletic Trainers' Association (CATA). He holds certifications from NATA and Connecticut as well as CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid, and AED.

Dompier graduated from Castleton with a bachelor of science degree in physical education (K-12) teaching certificate and athletic training in 1987. He went on to earn his master of arts in athletic training form Western Michigan in 1988. 

Dompier lives with his family in Chester, Connecticut.
