Kristina Overholt was hired as an assistant athletic trainer at Wesleyan University in the spring of 2025. The Lynchburg, Virginia native graduated with her masters in health and human performance with a concentration in sports administration from Northwestern State in 2021 and received her bachelors of science in athletic training from James Madison in 2019.

Overholt worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Northwestern State University during her time as a student from July 2019 through May 2021 before receiving a promotion and her first full-time position as assistant director of sports medicine at NSU, a position she held from the summer of 2021 through the spring 2025. Her outstanding work as a graduate student was recognized by NSU as Overholt was the recipient of the 2021 Health and Human Performance Outstanding Sports Administration Graduate Student award.

At NSU, Overholt provided care for athletes’ daily needs, sideline/emergency care, on and off field evaluations, rehabilitation, post-surgery rehab, documentation through Healthy Roster, and administrative duties. She also supervised the Prather Coliseum athletic training staff, managed student athletic trainers, was the liaison between full-time staff, graduate assistants, doctors, athletes, and parents. In recent years, Overholt worked with a small team to provide coverage for two local high schools in Louisiana, including football, girl’s and boys’ basketball, baseball, and softball game coverage which was in addition to her work with NSU.
In her undergraduate years at JMU, Overholt participated in clinical rotations with the team’s physician’s office, field hockey team, and the university recreation center's athletic training room which covered men’s/women’s club rugby teams, and the men’s club lacrosse team during her senior year. She worked with the women's soccer team and Stonewall Jackson High School in her junior year. Overholt received multiple MATSA Athletic Training scholarships while at JMU, in both 2017 and 2018.Â
Kristina holds numerous certifications at the state and national level and is certified by the American Red Cross for CPR/AED and First-Aid for professional rescuer as well as for blood born pathogens. She is also certified in QPR Training for mental health.

Overholt and her fiancé Trevor Wren, who is an assistant baseball coach at Yale, have a dog named Rawlings
