Sam Vitka joined the Wesleyan Athletic department as the Sports Administration Assistant in April 2024.

Vitka comes to Middletown by way of the University of New Haven where she primarily served as the Business Operations and External Relations Graduate Assistant for the 2023-24 academic year. At UNH, she worked with the Associate Athletic Director in the stewardship of existing and solicitation of new partners for the corporate sponsorship program. She also assisted with the department's general business needs, prepared deposits and purchase orders, and worked designated home contests with promotional activities.

While at UNH, Vitka also served as an assistant women's lacrosse coach for the 2024 season. She helped the Chargers in scouting, recruiting, instructing current student-athletes, and organized practices and travel. 

In addition to her time at UNH, Vitka worked in a part-time Event Management Assistant role for the athletic department at Yale University in 2023-24. At Yale, Vitka worked in game day operations where she assisted in various athletic events across campus.

Vitka's other recent professional experience includes time spent as the girls program coordinator/high school head coach for 3D NE South Girls Lacrosse in 2023-24. Her duties for the club included programming, marketing, promotions, player retention, development, recruitment, communication, and social media. She was also an events and business operations assistant/intern for the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023-24 where she assisted the head of professional relations and events in creating itineraries, booking travel, and host events.

Her first post-graduate experiences came as an event ambassador for the Kraft Group & Affiliations from April 2021 - May 2023, as she assisted with operations of events at Gillette Stadium and worked team events for the New England Patriots and New England Revolution. She also worked for Springfield College in the office of conferences & special events assistant coordinator from May 2021 - December 2022, helping with daily operations of events, camps, and conferences while working closely with campus departments, supervising event reservations, and managing general office duties.

Vitka is set to graduate in May 2024 with a masters of business degree in sport management with a concentration in college athletics from UNH.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree of arts & sciences in psychology in May 2022 from Western New England University. While at WNE, Vitka was a two-sport athlete in soccer and lacrosse from 2018-23, captaining both teams in her playing career. An All-Conference player in both sports, Vitka racked up 188 career points in lacrosse (119 goals, 69 assists) with 360 draw controls, 90 ground balls, and 49 caused turnovers in 67 career games (52 starts) for the Golden Bears. Vitka ranks second all-time at WNE in draw controls and was a First Team All-CCC selection in 2023. She also totaled 33 career points (15 goals, three assists) as a forward for the WNE soccer team, playing in 62 career games (45 starts) while she was a Third Team All-CCC pick in 2021.
