Scott Bushey enters his ninth year at Wesleyan in the 2025-26 academic year. After serving as the athletic operations and fitness coordinator for five years, Bushey was promoted to senior assistant athletic director for internal operations and wellness in 2022.

Bushey has been a jack-of-all-trades within the department as he started as an assistant cross country coach and assistant to the deputy athletic director in his first year in 2017-18. He was then promoted to athletic operations and fitness coordinator in his second year. In 2020-21, Bushey served as the interim head cross country coach as well as an assistant track and field coach. He returned to duties as athletic operations and fitness coordinator in 2021-22 and was promoted to senior assistant athletic director for internal operations and wellness in 2022-23.

Among his other duties at Wesleyan, Bushey has become heavily involved in the student development programming, specifically related to mental health as he is the Hope Happens Here advisor, facilitates Take Flight (first-year student-athlete experience) and schedules guest speakers. In addition, he also manages the Wesleyan faculty/staff wellness program, most notably the year-round adult fitness program.

His list of duties continues on as he supervised game management staff, communicating game day information to visiting coaches and officials. Bushey has also served as tournament director of the 2019 NCAA Div. III Tennis Regional Tournament and assisted in the planning and overseeing of the 2019 NESCAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships.

Prior to Wesleyan, Bushey held a variety of roles including an intern with the Springfield Armor (2013), team attendant with the Connecticut Sun (2007-14), tournament operations intern with Cal Ripken Baseball (2015) and brand ambassador supervisor for Gatorade in the Northeast Volleyball Championship in Hartford (2015-16). Bushey also coached the North East Basketball Club in the AAU circuit from 2012-14 while he was a head coach at Nike Track & Field Camp in Windsor, CT in the summer of 2018.

While pursuing his master’s degree at Springfield, Bushey was an assistant coach with both the cross country and track & field programs for two years (2015-17). He assisted with the day-to-day operations of the program, including planning and implementing practices while also assisting in the recruiting of prospective student-athletes.

In the final semester of his graduate years at Springfield, Bushey took an internship with Eastern Connecticut State University that saw him assist in the school’s hosting of the NCAA Div. III Baseball Regional Tournament. A few months later, Bushey took an internship with the business operations department within athletics at American International College for the 2017 spring season. It was here where he supported the assistant athletic director for business operations with analyzing, processing and reviewing department financial information including transportation expenses and financial aid.

Bushey was a four-year member of the cross country and track & field teams in his time at Springfield College. Bushey graduated cum laude in May 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management while he achieved a master’s in athletic administration from Springfield in 2017.
