Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

James Kline Scores but Wesleyan Men's Ice Hockey Falls to Hamilton 2-1

The Wesleyan Men's Ice Hockey team (0-2-4) traveled to Hamilton (3-3-0) and were defeated 2-1.

The two teams played a scoreless first period, with Cardinals goaltender Dawson Sprigings turning away nine shots, while Hamilton's goaltender, Even Buitenhuis, made 15 saves.

Hamilton opened the scoring with a second period goal by Robbie Murden. The goal was his fifth of the year. Hamilton got on the board again with a goal by Jason Brochu, which was assisted by Tyler Lovejoy and Rory Gagnon. Hamilton would go into the third period leading 2-0. Sprigings made 9 saves in the period while Buitenhuis made 15.

Going into the third period Wesleyan looked to have a repeat performance of their game last night against Amherst, where they scored two third period goals to tie the game. That wasn't to be however. The Cardinals were able to get on the board late in the game on a goal by James Kline, which was assisted by Alex Carlacci and Andy Espinoza. The goal was Kline's fourth on the year. Hamilton would go onto win the game 1-2.

Sprigings finished the game with 24 saves while Buitenhuis made 44.

Wesleyan next takes the ice on Friday December 11 at 7 p.m. against Elmira College at Spurrier-Snyder Rink.
