The Women's Hockey team played their first game of the new year against Hamilton College. The game would be decided in overtime, as Hamilton was able to come away with the 2-3 victory.
Hamilton was able to get out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Freshman Olivia Hawes, which was assisted by Senior Hannah Bartlett and Junior Megan Ahern. Less than a minute later, Wesleyan would tie up the score on a goal by Junior Jess Brennan, her third goal on the year. The goal was assisted by Senior Jenny Robinson and Freshman Sarah Gross. Hamilton would regain the lead with an unassisted goal by Junior Sara Taffe.
The two teams played a scoreless second period, with Wesleyan Senior goaltender Laura Corcoran making nine saves and Hamilton goaltender, Sophomore Sam Walther making 17 saves.
Brennan would notch her second goal of the game to tie the game at 2 all. The teams would head into overtime.
In the overtime period, Hamilton would get the win on a power play goal scored by Hawes. Corcoran would finish the game with 33 saves while Walther would finish with 31.
Wesleyan returns to action in an afternoon contest on Tuesday January 5th at Nichols College. The puck drops at 12:30.
