The Women's Ice Hockey team netted their first NESCAC victory of they year as they defeated the visiting Colby College Mules 3-1 on Friday night. The Cardinals improve to 3-6-0(1-2-0) while Colby falls to 3-6-2 (1-3-1).
The Cardinals were able to take early 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Senior Jenny Robinson. Both teams were unable to convert any more goals, and the Cardinals went into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead. Cardinals' Senior net minder Laura Corcoran made 7 saves in the period, while Colby's goaltender, Angelica Crites made 9.
It was the Jess Brennan show in the second period as the Junior forward netted two goals in the period, one on the power play. The power play goal was assisted by fellow junior Rachel Aronow.
The Cardinals went into the third with a 3-0 lead, and Corcoran, who made 34 saves on the night, only allowed one goal. Colby was able to sneak on by her as Katie McLaughlin scored early on in the third period. Her goal was assisted by Brooke Gary.
The Cardinals would go on to defeat the Mules by a score of 3-1. Both teams are right back at it tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.
