The Lead: The Wesleyan University men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking loss to Little Three rival Williams College, 2-1, in an overtime contest on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The two teams played a scoreless first half, with the Ephs outshooting the Cardinals, 6-2.
- Williams would break the scoreless tie at 59:37 in the second half on a Brandon Dory goal, which was assisted by Mohammed Rashid.
- An Ephs foul at 65:55 would give senior Charlie Gruner a penalty kick, and he took advantage as his shot found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was Gruner's third on the year.
- The teams would head into overtime tied at one.
- Just over five minutes into the overtime period, Malcom Moutenot would win the game for Williams, as his unassisted goal gave the home team the 2-1 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Ephs held the advantage in shots at 14-10. Williams put five shots on goals to Wesleyan's three.
- The Cardinals held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
- Christian Alcorn earned his seventh win on the season as he made two saves in the contest.
- Jack Katkavich '17 made three saves in the loss.
- Charlie Livingstone '18 and Mike Gallo '20 led Wesleyan in shots, as they took two apiece.

- The Cardinals will return to action tomorrow as they will take on Middlebury College at 2 p.m.
- Williams also returns to the field tomorrow as they will host Bowdoin at 12 p.m.
