The Lead: The Wesleyan University men's basketball team shot 57.1% (8-14) from three-point range en route to a commanding 83-65 win in the championship game of the Harold Brodie Tournament Sunday over host school, RIT.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS:
- The first half was all Wesleyan as the Cardinals shot 62.5% (15-24) from the floor and 71.4% (5-7) from downtown.
- Just 15 seconds into the game, Jordan Bonner '19 hit one from deep and a lay-up by Joseph Kuo '17 followed by a Nathan Krill '18 dunk put the visitor's ahead 7-0 early.
- Wesleyan went on a 17-2 run from 13:37 in the first to the 8:08 mark as PJ Reed '17 capped off the stretch with a three-pointer, giving the Cardinals a 28-7 lead.
- Play went back-and-forth the rest of the half as a lay-up by Krill at the :44 mark gave Wesleyan a 41-24 halftime lead.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS:
- The second half was more competitive, but the halftime deficit proved to be too large to overcome for RIT.
- The Tigers went on an 8-2 run to get within 11 at the 16:31 mark.
- A dunk by Krill with 10:53 to play put the Cardinals back up by 19, but a pair of free throws by Anthony Lewis capped off a 13-2 stretch by RIT to cut the deficit to 10 with 4:39 remaining.
- It would be the closest the Tigers would get the rest of the way as Wesleyan pulled away in the closing minutes.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Wesleyan handed RIT its first loss of the season as the Cardinals dominated the paint, outscoring the home team 40-8 down low and winning the rebounding margin, 46-29.
- Harry Rafferty '17 was named the Tournament MVP as he scored 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from behind-the-arc. Krill led the Cardinals in scoring with 18 en route to All-Tournament honors, and was one rebound shy of a double-double. Bonner and Salim Green '19 joined the duo in double-figures with 11 and 10, respectively, while Bonner pulled in a game-high 11 boards as well to record the first double-double of his career. He also dished out a game-high five assists and recorded two steals.
- RIT was led by AJ Horde who dropped 20 points on 7-of-20 shooting. He was the lone Tiger in double-figures, and also registered four assists. Mitch Herman dished out four as well and recorded a team-high six rebounds.

- The Cardinals are back in action Thursday, Dec. 1 and will head to MCLA for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
