MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Wesleyan University men's ice hockey team took on visiting Middlebury College on Friday night at Spurrier Snyder Rink. The Cardinals were able to rally from an early 2-0 deficit to force overtime where the game would end in a 3-3 tie.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Panthers got out to a quick 1-0 lead as they scored on their first shot of the game, which came 30 seconds into the first period.
- The teams combined for three goals in the first period with the Panthers holding a two goals to one advantage over the Cardinals.
- Middlebury's starting goaltender was forced to leave at the 11:28 mark of the second period due to an apparent injury. He was replaced by Liam Moorfield-Yee.
- Wesleyan was able to score on a two man advantage in the second period.
- The Cardinals had the tying goal waved off early in the third period.
- Wesleyan was able to tie the game just over mid-way through the third.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Middlebury was able to get on the board just 30 seconds into the game as Kamil Tkaczuk tipped the Ronald Fishman shot past Cardinals net minder Dawson Sprigings '17 to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. The goal was also assisted by Jake Charles.
- Just over four minutes later, a Mark McLellan at 4:36 gave the Panthers a 2-0 advantage. The goal was assisted by Brendan McGovern and Mike Najjar.
- The Cardinals were able to answer with a goal of their own at 7:23 as Terence Durkin '16 deflected the Cole Morrissete '17 shot past Middlebury goaltender Stephen Klein. Cam McCusker '18 was also given an assist on the play.
- In the second, the Panthers were able to get another goal, as Evan Neugold was able to get one by Sprigings off passes from Najjar and McGovern. The goal was scored at 4:27.
- Wesleyan was given a two man advantage in the second, and senior captain Jay Matthews took advantage as he shot a lazer past Moorfield-Yee, bringing the Middlebury lead to 3-2. The goal was Matthews' sixth on the year, and was assisted by Chad Malinowski '19.
- After having what would have been the tying goal waived off, the Cardinals were able to officially tie the game on a goal by Jaren Taenaka'16 as he took the pass from Andy Espinoza '19 and put it by Moorfield-Yee to tie the game at three all.
- The teams traded chances in the overtime period, but neither team could convert as the game ended in a 3-3 tie.
