MEDFORD, Mass. – Harry Stanton '18 and Taylor Ghesquiere '18 combined for nine goals, but the No. 20 ranked Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team fell to two-time defending National Champion, and 3rd-ranked Tufts University 13-12 on Saturday afternoon at Bello Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals held a 7-5 advantage going into the half, and a 9-6 lead going into the final quarter.
- The Jumbos would score seven straight goals in the fourth to take over the lead at 13-9.
- Ted Bergman '17 made 17 saves between the pipes for Wesleyan, while his counterpart, Alex Salazar made 15.
- Tufts outshot the Cardinals 58-44 and put more shots on cage at 30-27. They also held the advantage in face-offs, winning 24 while Wesleyan won four.
- The Cardinals held Tufts scoreless on five extra man opportunities, while going 3-5 on the EMO.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- The two teams played a low scoring first quarter, registering two goals a piece. Stanton got the scoring started as he took a Christian Barker '19 pass, and put it pass Salazar to give the Cardinals the early 1-0 advantage.
- Tufts would tie the game 18 seconds later on a goal by Kyle Howard-Johnson.
- Wesleyan responded with a goal from Niall Devaney '16, which was assisted by Carter Hawthorne '19.
- Jake Gillespie would score for the Jumbos with 44 seconds left to tie the game yet again.
- Wesleyan would outscore the Jumbos 5-3 in the second.
- Ghesquiere scored back-to-back goals in the second to give the Cardinals the 4-2 advantage.
- Gillespie, Ben Andreycak and John Uppgren had the three Tufts goals of the quarter.
- Stanton would add two more goals, and a goal from Hawthorne sent the Cardinals into halftime up 7-5.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Like the first quarter, the third quarter was a low scoring affair, as the Cardinals outscored Tufts 2-1.
- Quentin DellaFera '16 would assist on both goals in the quarter, which were scored by Ghesquiere and Stanton.
- Garrett Clark had the lone goal for Tufts.
- The Jumbos went on to score seven unanswered goals in the forth to bring them ahead of Wesleyan. Howard-Johnson. Andreycak, Uppgren, Zach Richman and Jake Gillespie all notched goals for Tufts, who went up 13-9 thanks to that streak.
- Wesleyan went on a three goal run thanks to goals from Ghesquiere, Barker and Stanton, but it wasn't enough as Tufts would go onto win, 13-12.
