MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – In a hard fought contest, the Wesleyan men's hockey team (2-2-0) was edged by Aurora, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals knotted the game at 3-3 with just under two minutes to play, but the Spartans (5-3-0) scored with 16 seconds remaining in regulation and were able to run out the clock to hang on for the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wesleyan wasted little time getting on the board, scoring just 2:41 into the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Tyler Levine capitalized on a breakaway opportunity, finding the bottom left of the net for his first career-goal.

- Aurora added a tally when Jacob Holmers blasted a shot home from the top of the left faceoff circle, making it 2-1 at the 17:04 mark.
- The Spartans extended their lead to 3-1 after Connor Chilton collected a loose puck behind the Cardinal goal. Larry Jungwirth one-timed Chilton's pass into the net with 52 seconds remaining in the frame.
- Wesleyan answered at the 16:41 mark of the second period when Walker Harris redirected a shot by Andy Espinoza from the right faceoff circle, cutting the deficit to one (3-2).
- The Cardinals found the equalizer 18:55 into the third period after an initial shot by Chad Malinowski. Spencer Fox collected the rebound, before Tyler Wyatt tipped home Fox's shot to knot the game 3-3.
- Aurora's Riley Doyon found the back of the goal through traffic for the 4-3 edge with just 16 seconds remaining. Unfortunately for Wesleyan, the Spartans were able to run out the final seconds and hang on for the win.
