MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -  The Wesleyan men's hockey team recorded its fifth shutout of the year with a 3-0 victory over Tufts (5-10-1, 2-7-1) on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals improve to 9-4-2 overall and remain the only unbeaten NESCAC team (8-0-2) in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Tufts had a great opportunity to score 5:18 into the game, but Nick Schultze's shot from the doorstep was denied by Wesleyan goaltender Tim Sestak.
• The Cardinals got on the board with 15:10 expired during a power play. Vincent Lima sent a centering pass from the far post, before Tyler Kobryn one-timed the puck into the net on the near side for the 1-0 edge.
• The Jumbos had a chance to knot the game at the 18:52 mark, but Justin Brandt's shot was denied by a glove save from Sestak.
• Out of the break, Tufts looked for the equalizer, but Machlan Sawden's shot from point blank was thwarted by Sestak.
• Wesleyan found the back of the goal a second time during a five-on-three situation at the 2:14 mark of the second frame. Tyler Wyatt tucked the puck inside the left post to make it 2-0.
• The Cardinals extended their lead to 3-0 with 10:01 expired in the second. Wyatt sent the puck from the slot to Tyler Levine on the right post, before Levine's pass to the far side was one-timed into the net by Spencer Fox.
• Just 1:01 into the third period, Levine looked to tack on another tally, but his breakaway attempt was denied by Jumbo netminder Drew Hotte.
• Tufts' final quality opportunity to get on the board came with 9:05 expired, but Blake McIntyre's shot from the slow went just wide right.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Sestak recorded his fifth shutout of the season, making 25 saves, while Hotte had 37 stops for the Jumbos.
• Wesleyan held a 40-25 advantage in shots during the victory.
