AMHERST, Mass. – The Wesleyan men's soccer team (6-7-3) saw its NESCAC title run come up short on Saturday at No. 1 Amherst (14-0-2). In the Cardinals' first appearance in the NESCAC Tournament since 2015, the eighth-seeded squad fell to the top-seeded Mammoths 2-0.
"We came out in the first half strong," stated head coach Geoff Wheeler. "Amherst has a very talented team with strong attacking players and unfortunately, we were unable to capitalize on our chances. I was proud of how we competed today against the top-ranked team in the country."
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Amherst opened the scoring with 30:40 expired after a throw-in by Bryce Johnson. A Wesleyan defender attempted to clear the ball out, but Dane Lind one-timed it into the back of the net for the 1-0 edge.
