Cardinals Earn 6-3 Victory Over No. 15 Carnegie Mellon

ORLANDO, Fla. – On Wednesday night, the ninth-ranked Wesleyan men's tennis team won its fourth-straight match with a 6-3 victory over No. 15 Carnegie Mellon. The Cardinals are 4-0 on the year with four wins in four days during their spring break trip. With the loss, the Tartans fell to 5-6 with their third-straight defeat.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Wesleyan took a 2-1 lead in doubles action with wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots.
  • Adrian Roji and Noah Lilienthal won No. 1 doubles in a thriller by scores of 8-7 (8-6), while Andrew Finkelman and Zach Fleischman cruised to an 8-0 sweep in No. 3 doubles.
  • Finkelman, Roji, and Lilienthal each won their singles matches as well.
  • Trailing 6-3 after one, Finkelman responded with victories of 6-0, 6-4 to seal the win in No. 1 singles.
  • Roji edged Robert Levin in No. 3 singles by scores of 6-2, 7-6 (7-2), and Lilienthal took the No. 4 spot by marks of 6-4, 6-4.
  • In the No. 5 spot, Princeton Carter defeated Clark Safran, 6-2, 6-4.

UP NEXT:

  • The Cardinals have a day off and will be back in action tomorrow, March 15 for their final match of the Florida Spring Break trip. They will play Ithaca at 12:30 p.m. at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.
