ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 7 Wesleyan women's tennis won its fourth match in four days as the Cardinals defeated No. 10 Carnegie Mellon on Wednesday night, 6-3. With the win, Wesleyan improved to 4-0 on the year, while the Tartans fell to 9-5.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead after doubles action with wins from their No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams.
- The Yu sisters took the top spot, defeating Courtney Ollis and Vinaya Rao, 8-3. In No. 2 doubles, Polina Kiseleva and Venia Yeung won 8-4 over Danna Taylor and Melissa Strome.
- Yeung, Kristina Yu, Kiseleva and Alissa Nakamoto each won their singles matches decisively.
- Yeung won No. 2 singles by scores of 6-4, 6-2, Kiseleva took the No. 4 spot 6-3, 6-1, and Nakamoto won 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 position, while Kristina Yu swept No. 3 singles with 6-0 victories.
