MIDDLETOWN, Conn.— Wesleyan's fourth-ranked women's tennis won their first Little Three title on Sunday in a 6-3 win over No. 7 Amherst. The victory was the Cardinals' tenth of the season and fifth in NESCAC play. Despite taking a commanding 4-1 lead, Wesleyan had to fight for the decisive fifth point, as Amherst mounted a spirited comeback. The Mammoths were in position to tie things back up, but freshman Alexis Almy came through at #5 for a straight-sets win to clinch the significant victory for Wesleyan.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS

At #2, Venia Yeung and Polina Kiseleva used their massive groundstrokes to overpower their opponents for an 8-4 win.

#3 was a similar affair, as Almy and Alissa Nakamoto were ruthless from both the baseline and net, earning another key doubles point with an 8-5 victory.
SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS

Wesleyan's first singles point came at #3, where Kristina Yu put together a dominant performance, winning 6-2, 6-2.

At #4, Kiseleva was pushed in the second set, and saved two set points in the second, before coming through in the most pivotal moments for a 6-1, 7-6(6) win.

Almy was in control from start to finish, winning 6-2, 6-1 at #5 in a quick match that sealed the victory.

Rounding things out was Alissa Nakamoto, who finished the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win at #6.
