MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's hockey team (6-4-1, 0-3-1) saw its comeback attempt fall short on Saturday as No. 10 Colby (8-1-2, 5-0-1) edged the Cardinals 2-1. The teams met on Friday evening and skated to a 2-2 draw.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Colby wasted little time getting on the board, scoring just 2:24 into the opening frame. Lexi Cafiero tipped-in an initial shot by Sadie Kuhn during a power play to make it 1-0.
• The Cardinals looked to even the score when they skated five-on-three for a minute beginning at the 11:25 mark, but they were unable to convert.
• Out of the intermission, the Mules extended the advantage with 1:21 expired. An initial shot by Bri Michaud-Nolan was denied by Wesleyan netminder Allegra Grant, but Lauren Klein was able to tip-in the rebound for the 2-0 lead.
• The Cardinals responded just 26 seconds later when Cali Stevens scored on a breakaway, cutting the deficit to one (2-1).
• Wesleyan nearly tallied the equalizer with nine seconds remaining in the middle frame, but Maggie Curran's bid from the doorstep was denied by Colby goaltender Cierra San Roman.
• The Mules had a great opportunity to increase their lead with 5:28 elapsed in the third stanza after a give-and-go between Cassidy Holzer and Moira Mullaney, but Mullaney's bid hit the crossbar and ricocheted away.  
• Wesleyan's best chance to knot the game came during a power play at the 18:52 mark, but Bridget Cornell's attempt was blocked by Aimley Michaud-Nolan as Colby hung on for the 2-1 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Grant suffered the loss in goal, making 26 saves during 58:09.
• San Roman earned the win with 15 stops.
