MIDDLETOWN, CT – The quarterback for the Wesleyan Cardinals took home another award this Sunday, being named NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week. This will be the 3
rd NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week award of his career, and his second in three weeks.
Estevez put up big numbers this past week against the Tufts Jumbos, racking up over 200 yards on the ground and through the air in a 36-35 victory for the Cardinals. He was 13-23 passing for 270 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He was possibly even more impressive in the rushing game, posting 22 rushes for 204 and two touchdowns. His 474 yards of total offense this week breaks a Wesleyan record for a single game. The previous record was held by the great Jim Lukowski, who had 430 total yards back in 1985. Through five games now Estevez has put up 807 yards passing (73.7 completion %), nine touchdowns, and only one interception. He has also led the team in rushing with 451 total yards and two touchdowns.
Wesleyan (5-0) returns home to Corwin Stadium at 1 PM next Saturday hoping to keep the undefeated season going against the Middlebury Panthers (1-4).
