Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Wesleyan men's hockey dropped their home opener to No. 3 Adrian on Saturday afternoon, 7-1. Nationally-ranked Adrian College dominated the game from start to finish, scoring at least two goals in every period on way to a season-high seven goals. With that win the Bulldogs improve to 6-1 on the year, Wesleyan (1-2-1) drops their 2
nd in a row.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- After 11 shots in the first 13 minutes, Adrian finally put one through at the 13:44 mark as Matt Couto netted the first of the game. He was quickly followed by John Kaljian, who put the Bulldogs up two going into the first intermission
- Allesio Luciani started the second with another goal, extending the lead to 3-0 2:47 into the period
- Stevie O'Connor '22 got the Cardinals on the board two minutes later with a nice goal off a rebound in front of the net. A minute later, a hard hit from Wiggle Kerbrat '23 sent him off the ice early. Adrian retaliated with a hit after the play for a two-minute minor. After the minor was up, Adrian's Ty Enns capitalized on the powerplay to put them up 4-1
- Ty Enns produced another goal for the Bulldogs early in the 3rd period extending the lead to 5-1. Rex Moe and Sam Ruffin put the finishing touches on the Adrian victory late in the 3rd with goals in the 13th and 15th minute to secure the 7-1 win
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Stevie O'Connor now is tied for the team lead in goals, scoring his 2nd of the season
- Erik Voloshin '24 made a career-high 27 saves
- Jake Lachance '23 had a career-high four blocked shots, which currently ranks 2nd on the team
