Women’s Hockey Falls to Connecticut College, 2-1

NEW LONDON, CT- Women's hockey falls at Connecticut College, 2-1 Friday night. After falling behind by two goals in the first two periods, Wesleyan was able to salvage a 3rd period goal to cut into the Camels lead. Brooke Keough '23 put through the late goal, as Wesleyan tried to put together a 3rd period comeback. Wesleyan loses their 5th straight to fall to 6-5 (2-4 NESCAC), while Connecticut College picks up their first NESCAC win (5-7-2, 1-6 NESCAC).
 
HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Despite being outshot in the period 9-7, the Camels were able to come out o fht e1st period with a 1-0 lead. Morgan Bronstein cleaned up a Caroline O'Keefe shot and gave Connecticut College an early advantage
  • The Cardinals had some decent scoring opportunities again in a 2nd period where they once again outshot the Camels (8-4). O'Keefe was once again in the middle of it with another assist, this time to Sydney Cresta
  • After a fairly quiet Camels power play that only saw them register one shot on goal, Wesleyan began applying pressure in the 3rd. Ally Detre '22 and Rachel Ziff '23 had shots turned away, before Brooke Keough was able to score and cut the lead in half
  • Wesleyan survived another Conn College power play over the next two minutes. Pulling Rei Halloran '23 in a last ditch effort to even the game in the final 2+ minutes. They were able to put together two shots, but both were blocked by Camels' defenders holding the score at 2-1
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Wesleyan outshot Connecticut College 23-17
  • Brooke Keough ties for the team lead with her 3rd goal of the season
 
UP NEXT:
Wesleyan will get another shot at Connecticut College Saturday night at 7pm as the 2nd part of a hockey double-header at Spurrier-Snyder Rink.
