CLERMONT, FL - Softball goes 2-0 Sunday with dominating wins over Western New England (13-2, 5 innings) and Framingham State (10-3). The Cardinals responded after dropping their season opener with two blowouts. Their two wins this season already surpasses how many they had all of 2021 (1-14). Wesleyan improves to 2-1 on the season, while the losses drop Western New England to 1-1 and Framingham State to 0-1.

HIGHLIGHTS (13-2 W OVER WESTERN NEW ENGLAND)
- Wesleyan got out to a hot start scoring three runs in the bottom of the 1st. Revi Brown '23 drove in the first run of the game on a triple, followed up by a Isabella Secaira-Cotto '25 RBI single and Darlene De La Cruz '25 RBI double
- The Cardinals then had an even bigger offensive explosion in the 2nd inning, finishing with five more runs of six hits. Brown and De La Cruz drove in two more runs each extending the lead to 8-0 only two innings in
- Western New England would score their first run of the game in the 3rd, but Wesleyan responded with three more of their own in the bottom half. Secaira-Cotto and Krissy Gately '24 hit back-to-back doubles to drive in the three runs
- WNE added another in the 4th, but Wesleyan put the finishing touches on the game in the bottom half scoring two more to send the game into 5th at 13-2. Secaira-Cotto closed the door in the 5th, ending the game
NOTES:
- Revi Brown only allowed three hits and one earned run in their first four innings of their 2022 pitching debut
- Wesleyan's 16 hits are the most in a single game since the 2019 season
- Brown and Secaira-Cotto combine to go 6-for-7 with six runs and six RBIs
HIGHLIGHTS (10-3 W OVER FRAMINGHAM STATE)
- Wesleyan got off to another hot start, scoring four 2nd inning runs to take an early lead. Alexis Campbell '22 drove in the first run of the game on a single, followed by a two-run single by Courtney Collins-Pisano '22 and RBI single by Hannah Docktor '24. Framingham State would respond with a run of their own in the bottom half
- After a scoreless next two innings for both teams, the Cardinals were able to add an insurance run in the top of the 5th on an error by the Rams' first baseman
- Wesleyan would have a massive 6th inning, bringing across four more runs to put the game out of reach that was capped off by a two-run Secaira-Cotto double making the score 9-1
- The Rams scored two more late runs, followed up by a late Wesleyan run to reach the final score of 10-3
NOTES:
- Brooklin Williams '23 got her first win of the season, giving up four hits and three earned runs over her five innings of action. She also finished with three walks and five strikeouts
- Secaira-Cotto continued her impressive day going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs
- Collins (2-for-5) and Docktor (2-for-4) joined her with two hits and two RBIs each
