Jake Lachance ’23 Earns NESCAC Player of the Week Honors

Lachance becomes first men’s hockey player to earn honors this season

MIDDLETOWN, CT.- The Wesleyan men's hockey senior defenseman earned NESCAC Player of the Week honors after helping Wesleyan to a 2-0-1 week. The league office made this announcement in their weekly release on Monday afternoon. The Cardinals stand as the only team in Division III hockey to not have a loss in regulation, with their only two losses both coming in overtime.

Jake Lachance '23 has been a key piece in the hot start for the Cardinals, but has upped his play to another level over the past few games. The senior defenseman has now contributed a point in each of his last five games, and 10 points over his last five. Lachance turned it up a notch this week, producing six points in three games to earn the honor of NESCAC Player of the Week. He had a goal and two assists in the 5-3 victory over Bowdoin, tying a career-high with three points. He then had a goal and assist effort in a tie against another NESCAC foe in Colby. He is now tied for the NESCAC lead with 17 points which he has put together in just 12 games.

Lachance and the Cardinals hope to continue their stellar start to the season in their next game against SNHU Tuesday January 17th at Spurrier-Snyder Rink.
