Cortland Skates Past Women’s Hockey, 3-0

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's hockey team scored three goals in just under a four-minute span in the second period, earning a 3-0 win over Wesleyan on Tuesday night from Alumni Arena. Wesleyan drops to 9-4-1 overall after tonight's non-conference loss while the Red Dragons improve to 12-3 and are winners of eight straight games.

The first period was scoreless but the Cardinals generated 10 shots on-goal compared to just four for Cortland. Molly Goergen turned aside all 10 Wesleyan shots in the period including a shorthanded breakaway attempt from Isabelle Allieri '25.

The three-goal outburst started just past the midway point of the second period. Molly McCabe scored from the left point on a wrist shot through traffic at the 10:27 mark. Jillian Hlasnick then scored on a rebound at 13:33. Kayla Persinger completed the run with a power play marker at 14:21, scoring on the right side after Cam McCrystal '24 denied an initial shot from Grace Schnorr.

The third period was evenly played throughout with Cortland holding a slight 8-7 advantage in shots as Goergen locked in the shutout win, her fifth of the season for the Red Dragons.

Earning her first career action between the pipes, McCrystal was solid in her debut as a Cardinal, making 23 saves. Four Cardinals tied for the team-lead with three shots.

Wesleyan is back in action with a Little Three home matchup against No. 4 nationally ranked Amherst on Friday (7 PM) and Saturday (3 PM).
