MIDDLETOWN, Conn. / AMHERST, Mass. – The Wesleyan men's squash team battled both No. 15 Williams and No. 19 Amherst this weekend in the Little Three Championship. The Cardinals lost both matches, falling to the Ephs 8-1 at home on Saturday before a 9-0 defeat at Amherst on Sunday.
Wesleyan managed to win one match against the Ephs, as
Toby Goldston '24 took down John Nicholson in a match that lasted almost an hour at #5. Goldston set the tone early with 12-10 and 11-9 wins in the first two games before Nicholson clawed back with a pair of 11-5 wins in games three and four. In the fifth and deciding game, Goldston triumphed with an 11-9 win, giving the Cardinals a point in the team scoring.
Both
Ethan Yan '25 and
Morgan Shatzman '25 managed to win one game in their respective mathces on Saturday against Williams while
Cole Zetterquist '24 triumped in an exhibition match at #10, defeating Gabriel Ramirez 3-2 (11-6, 6-11, 4-11, 11-8, 11-6).
The Mammoths won by 3-0 scores in all nine matches.
Shanay Sanghavi '23 won the most total points as he took 21 off Neal Malani in a 11-5, 11-9, 11-7 loss at #4.
Nimai Kini '26 held off Kedar Negaraj for 28 minutes at #1, as his match was the longest of the day.
Wesleyan closes out the regular season next weekend with a trip to Brown on Saturday before hosting Hamilton for Senior Day Sunday.
