MIDDLETOWN, CT. – The Wesleyan women's swimming & diving team hosted Hamilton in a dual meet on Wednesday night from the Webster Family Natatorium. The Cardinals (2-5) defeat the Continentals (2-2) by a score of 144-136, with Wesleyan having eight first-place finishes.
Zane Paglia '23 and
Sara Bohacek '26 led the way for the Cardinals, each claiming two first-place finishes. Paglia took first in both the diving events with a score of 202.57 in the 1mtr and a score of 213.30 in the 3mtr. Bohacek started her successful day with a victory in the 25 yard breast clocking in with a time of 14.42. She followed that up with another first place finish in the 50 yard breast touching the wall at 32.44.
Zoe Kuhn '26 and
Victoria Carroll '24 also had first place finishes. Kuhn took first place in the 200 yard free with a time of 1:57.11, while also placing second in the 500 yard free (5:21.83). Carroll finished ahead of the pack in the 25 yard fly, ending with a time of 12.49. She junior had another impressive finish in the 50 yard fly, coming in right behind the leader at 27.50.
Wesleyan had one more individual place first in an event, with
Izzy Pennington '24 touching the back wall at 13.11 in the 25 yard back. The Cardinals also had a handful of individuals take 2
nd in events:
Nora Bootchk '26 in the 25 yard breast (14.73),
Ola Szopa '24 in the 1mtr dive (165.15), and
Annie Conway '26 and
Sarah Schou '23 tied for second in the 25 yard fly with a time of 12.56. Wesleyan's best relay team was the 100 yard medley relay group (Pennington, Bohacek,
Izzy Paez '26,
Heddy Parker '23) that took first in the event with a time of 51.66.
Wesleyan leaves for a training trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida Thursday and will return to Middletown later this week. There next meet will be a home tri-meet against Roger Williams and Springfield on Saturday January 14
th.
