Sarah Youngberg '26 went on a deep run in her first career ITA Cup appearance, making it to the semifinal round in the singles open draw, competing against the top talent across the nation. For her efforts, Youngberg earns All-American honors for the first time in her career.
Earning a spot at the ITA Cup by way of her runner-up finish at the ITA Regionals three weeks prior, Youngberg showed she's one of the nation's elite as her tournament opened with an upset victory over the two-seed Hannah Kassaie of Case Western. Taking the opening set 7-5, Youngberg dominated with a 6-2 win in the second set, sending her to the quarterfinals with a straight set victory.
Competing against Ruth Hill of Trinity University (Texas), Youngberg made quick work of the quarterfinal clash, defeating Hill in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
The semifinal round featured a showdown against three-seed Lindsay Eisenman of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) and Youngberg got off on the front foot, winning the opening set 6-2, her fifth straight set victory at the ITA Cup. However, Youngberg's run came to an end as Eisenman fought back and won the second and third sets by 6-2 scores.
This run concludes the fall season for Wesleyan who look ahead to the spring where they will begin defense of their four straight NESCAC Championships.
