Women’s soccer holds Connecticut College to no goal draw

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – In the final matchup of the regular season, the Wesleyan women's soccer team held off Connecticut College scoreless but were also in turn held scoreless, in a 0-0 NESCAC draw on Tuesday night from Citrin Field.

The No. 4 seed Cardinals (7-3-5 overall, 3-2-5 NESCAC) will host No. 5 seed Trinity College in the NESCAC Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 28, with kickoff at 12 p.m.

It was a physical matchup between the Cardinals and the Camels, both defenses strong in the back field as the Cardinals outshot the Camels (9-5-1 overall, 4-5-1 NESCAC) 7-4 through the first half. Audrey Lavey '23 had the first solid scoring opportunity for the Cardinals with less than a minute before the half but was stopped by Camels goalkeeper Sarah Hall.

The 51-minute mark of the second half saw attempted scoring frenzy from the Cardinals as Lina Rodriguez '24, Waverly Meyers '26, and Lavey all took aim at the Camels goal. Hall came up with a handful each time on the save. Cardinals goalkeeper Molly Brumbach '26 faced another three on goal just after the Cardinals' possession but did not come up empty handed at any point. Lavey and Kerenza Leahey '27 both took aim again in the 70th minute but could not get one past Hall.

Brumbach made a total of eight saves on eight shots in goal. Hall finished with seven saves for the Camels.
