AUBURN, Me. – The Wesleyan women's golf team placed seventh out of eight teams at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier held at the Martindale Country Club.
Mia Holbrook '27 had a great showing in the first day of the tournament, carding a 77 (+6) on Saturday which carried her to the fourth and final individual qualifying spot for the NESCAC Championship in early May.
Williams took the top spot in the event, shaving 11 strokes off their round one total to move from third to first place between rounds 1 and 2. The Ephs totaled 599 strokes for the tournament. Amherst was the runner-up while Hamilton placed third.
Holbrook posted a first round 77, which put her in a tie for 10
th place on the player leaderboard. The first-year followed with an 82 (+11) on Saturday to finish with a 159 total (77-82), putting her in a tie for 15
th place overall. Holbrook's two-day total of 159 is tied with
Milan Yorke '25 from 2021 for the lowest stroke total in program history at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier. Holbrook's 15
th place finish is the highest finish for a Cardinal in the event.
Maggie Monaghan '24 was terrific over the weekend, shooting an opening round 83 before coming through with a team-best 79 (+8) on Sunday. Coming into the weekend, Monaghan's previous-best round at the NESCAC Qualifier was an 86 in 2021, and the senior easily bested that mark in both rounds this season. Her two-day total of 162 (+20) was good enough for a tie for 23
rd place in the player field.
Kayla Howell '26 was third-best on the weekend for the Cardinals for the second straight season at the NESCAC Qualifier, shooting an opening round 79 (+8) before firing an 85 on Sunday to finish with 164 strokes and in 28
th place. Her 164-stroke total is nine strokes lower than the 173 she posted at the 2022 NESCAC Qualifier.
Rounding out the lineup was
Mia Bardinelli '26 who shot an 83-85 (168) over the two-day tournament while
Kandace Kellon '27 finished with a 182 (88-94).
Wesleyan finishes up the fall season with the Little Three Championship on Tuesday hosted by Williams at the Taconic Golf Club.
