Women’s Golf Takes Ninth Place at the Jack Leaman Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Wesleyan women's golf team placed ninth out of 12 teams in the 36-hole Jack Leaman Invitational hosted by Amherst over the weekend. The Cardinals shot 323-315-638 (+62) over the two-day tournament. NYU won the event with a +21 while Williams finished runner-up. Amanda Phillips '28 led the Cardinals with a 78-75 (+9) to finish in a tie for 14th place out of 66 golfers on the player leaderboard. Phillips started with a 78 (+6) on Saturday, recording three birdies in a five-hole span on the back 9. She followed with a 75 (+3) on Sunday in a round that featured four birdies while she shot 35 (-1) on the back 9 with birdies on the par 4 11th hole and par 5 13th.
 
Mia Rodgers '29 was second-best on the weekend for Wesleyan, finishing in a tie for 33rd place with an 81-79 (+16). Rodgers shot par or better on 10 holes on Sunday and finished with three birdies over the two rounds.
 
Grace Wu '29 tied for 36th overall with an 82-80 (+18) as she recorded 10 pars on both Saturday and Sunday. Mia Holbrook '27 rounded out the scoring with an 82-81 (+19), finishing with five birdies on the weekend, second most on the team.
 
Wesleyan is back in action with a trip to Georgia for the Deb Jackson Invitational hosted by Emory on April 18-19.
